Jewelry Spotlight- What to Wear (Part 4)

Style is not simply about wearing fabulous clothing, it’s about having the confidence to take risks and be noticed. As the late Yves Saint Laurent aptly put it, “I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” Trend-setters like Alexa Chung and Carey Mulligan don’t play it safe when it comes to style, and neither should you. Now, that doesn’t mean you should run to the nearest Bloomingdales and buy a pair of neon hot pants and a leather crop top. The modern fashionista knows how to take an outfit she loves and incorporate new trends to make her look more current. That could be anything from a neon necklace to a tribal print scarf. This week we are featuring colorful outfits and jewelry for the confident woman in you who isn’t afraid to be the talk of any party. (All of the clothing featured was found online at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue).

The first piece we have is from our our “Classic Romance” collection and is made of luminescent, green freshwater pearls. We have it paired with a yellow Theory top and a floral Dolce and Gabbana skirt. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, try pairing the floral skirt with a patterned top. But remember, if you have a large print on bottom, choose a more subtle, smaller print on top. Don’t be afraid to experiment!

The next two pieces we have are from our “Birds of a Feather” collection and are a matching pair of earrings and bracelet. They feature multi-colored jasper, shell and blue lapis. We paired them with a Lafayette 148 jacket, shirt and pants. The summery white of the jacket helps balance the bright fuchsia and lets the colors of the jewelry take center stage.The same outfit can be done in any color you like. If pink isn’t your color, we suggest mint, which is very popular this summer season and packs a little less punch than the bright fuchsia.

Jewelry Spotlight- What to Wear (Part 3)

The Sheath dress is something that every stylish woman has in her wardrobe. It can be worn easily from day into night, with just a change of accessories and styling. The style is flattering to all kinds of different body types and ages, which makes it universally loved. Here we are featuring three basic dresses and how our jewelry can make them really sparkle and show off the vibrant personalities of Our Secret Designs women. (All of the clothing featured was found online at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.)

The first piece of jewelry is from our “Chromatic” collection and is made of beautiful turquoise chunks. We paired it with a summery Ralph Lauren dress and a white DVF belt that will really accentuate curves and a small waist. For daytime, it can be paired with a sandal for a more casual look and for night, a patterned pump to give the outfit a more elegant feel.

The next piece is a stunning necklace from our “Indulgence” collection and is made of twisted strands of dyed jade in purple and green. This piece is right on trend with bright colors that are being seen in many of this summer’s styles. It is shown with a Zac Posen navy dress and a purple pump to accent the same brilliant purple featured in the necklace.

The last featured piece is a pair of earrings from our “Razzle Dazzle” collection and showcase beautiful, natural amethyst dangles. The earrings call for a more sophisticated, evening look so we paired them with a Badgley Mischka cocktail dress. Just a touch of sparkle at the waist helps to highlight the sparkle in the earring.

In today’s fashion world, trends are constantly coming and going with each new season. What’s cool and trendy one day is out the next. But certain pieces in your wardrobe become staples that you can always turn to, classic looks that only get better with time. A good way to spice up these looks is to add special statement pieces that make them more modern and interesting. (All of the clothing featured was found online at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.)

The first piece is from our “Body Armor” collection and is a black, plated metal chain with medallion stations. It can be worn long or double wrapped for a shorter look. The simple piece can be easily paired with bold prints, such as with this timeless Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress. The coral shoe adds a pop of color.

The second piece is from our “Seasonal” summer collection and is made of red branch coral with a turquoise and silver cluster. Such a bold necklace can stand on its own and should be worn with a simple outfit. Here we paired it with a Tibi striped top and cropped white pant.

It’s easy to fall in love with a spectacular piece of jewelry. What’s often harder to do is find the right outfit to pair it with. Each piece we create at Our Secret Designs is versatile and unique and can be worn with many looks. But being the fashionable ladies that we are, we want to give you some suggestions on looks we love that will highlight our beautiful collections of jewelry. From our “Natural Elements” collection we have a beautiful necklace with large turtle shell beads. The earthy color and simple design makes it perfect for everyday wear, whether it be visiting the farmers market or going to an afternoon lunch with your girlfriends. Here we paired it with a simple white top, colored shorts and a chic patterned blazer.

From our “Dynamic” collection we have a necklace featuring black lava beads and flat stones, red jasper and silver. This piece can make any work or professional outfit more eye catching and fashion forward. Here we paired it with a modern Donna Karan suit and leopard Christian Louboutin pumps. The crisp white jacket serves as the perfect backdrop to this bold black and red number.

Trend Report- Summer 2012

The statement necklace is back. Not that it ever really went away. They have been spotted everywhere on the runway from Preen and Ralph Lauren to Michael Kors and Dior. What’s on trend this summer will be necklaces that can be worn from day into night. They act as versatile pieces that can be paired as easily with jeans and a t-shirt as they can with a classic little black dress. Mixed metals and earth tones are being perfectly paired with the tribal prints and neon shades that are hot this season. Today’s modern lady is constantly on the go and must be looking chic and fashionable at all times. So it’s essential to have jewelry that’s as multifaceted and fabulous as you are!
